Spaces Available for Lodge-Based Kayak Trip

The Prince William Sound Lodge

Good news! We have spaces available for our lodge-based sea kayaking trips in beautiful Prince William Sound! As a 3rd-year kayak guide for Anadyr, I’ve had the opportunity to guide quite a few lodge trips, so speaking candidly, these trips are awesome! They truly do provide a unique Alaskan experience!

Accessible only by air or sea, this charmingly rustic lodge sits right on the water’s edge, amongst a lush rain forest. With its’ cozy fireplace, oak floors, outdoor deck, and panoramic views (there’s also a beautiful yoga room!), the setting feels intimate and handcrafted. There’s also a wood-fired sauna for extreme relaxation. Really. . . what could be better after a day of paddling?

And what would a lodge-based kayaking trip be without gourmet food prepared by a highly entertaining host? Chris Saal, the owner of the lodge, is a fantastic cook of mouthwatering proportions , as well as engaging storyteller of his many years in Alaska as an airline pilot, commercial fisherman and lodge owner. I encouraged my parents to do a lodge trip, certain that they would love it. Mission accomplished! My dad especially loved diving into the ocean after sitting in the sauna!

Departing in sea kayaks right from the beach, we’ll explore the beautiful inlets, islands and shoreline in the area surrounding the lodge. It is an amazing way to experience the diversity of the tidal ecosystem. Apart from paddling, there are opportunities to hike around the lush boreal rain forest and see a variety of wild flowers, vegetation and wildlife.

One of my favorite aspects of our lodge trips are that they include either one or two of our day trips, which include Columbia Glacier and Glacier Island, both unique and magnificent destinations in Prince William Sound.
