Meares Glacier to Columbia Glacier – Seven or Eight Day
A tale of two glaciers in the heart of the PWS wilderness.
The ultimate Prince William Sound adventure. This exploration illustrates the story of tidewater glaciers at opposite points in their lifecycle like few places on the planet can. The powerful Meares Glacier is in a point of advance, pushing over a lush forest as it progresses into the sea, while the massive Columbia Glacier continues a drastic retreat, leaving newly unveiled landscape and polished rock in its aftermath. En route are picturesque coastal Alaskan bays and shorelines rich in flora and fauna. Each voyage is unique, as there are many ways to connect these incredible destinations, but all paths transit the heart of remote Prince William Sound wilderness offering incredible camping and wildlife encounter possibilities.
Note: Experienced or fit kayakers may accomplish this entire trip route in 7 days. However, we recommend everyone designate 8 days to truly immerse themselves in the wilderness experience and allow for a more relaxed pace to explore ashore or adjust to a weather day.
