Shoup Glacier – Paddle and Hike
Shoup Bay State Marine Park is an ideal destination for both exploring by kayak and foot.
Paddle beautiful shoreline and beneath cascading waterfalls towards Shoup Glacier’s terminus. Hike along the glacier’s edge peering into deep blue ice formations created by powerful meltwater streams. Experience the evolution of a glacial landscape as you voyage from Shoup Bay’s mouth to the glacier’s terminus. A great choice for getting up close to the face of a glacier.
Note: Shoup glacier is no longer tidewater meaning it does not terminate in the sea or calve icebergs. Ice in the water is rarely present. If you want to paddle with ice the Columbia Glacier Face and Valdez Glacier Lake trips are better options.
