Explore the beautiful Valdez Glacier Lake by inflatable kayak. Marvel at icebergs and glacial formations while you glide along the lakes surface. Take a break on shore and enjoy the scenery, meander along a glacial stream or scramble to a viewpoint. Valdez Glacier was used extensively during the Gold Rush days of the late 1800’s as an All American Route to the gold fields of interior Alaska. Learn about the people who weathered the hardships of early glacial travel while searching for their fortune in the untamed wilderness. Our only freshwater destination, this time and budget friendly adventure is an excellent choice for those that want to see a glacier and ice formations from the ease of an inflatable kayak. An especially good option for large groups.
Trip Details
Duration: 5 hours. Daily departures at 9am June 1st – Sep 20th. Afternoon (noon to 2:30pm) departures often available. Please inquire about dates prior to June 1st.
Rate: $175 per guest
Itinerary:
Prep 0.5 hr, Van transport 0.5 hr, Kayak 2.5 hrs, Shore time 1 hr
Hour 1: Gear-up. Van transport to Valdez Glacier Lake (15 minutes). Kayak instruction and Safety Briefing.
Hour 2-3: Launch kayaks, explore the glacier lake and icebergs by inflatable kayak.
Hour 3-4: Shore break for lunch and hot drinks.
Hour 4-5: Back in the kayaks, continue exploring and finish the loop to kayak take-out. Van transport back to Valdez.
Out of courtesy for other guests we ask that you arrive punctually for your trip. All itineraries are approximations and may be altered.
